Drove to Charleville.

Drove to Winton.
It rained in the morning.
We watched bush poets at the caravan park.

Arrived Burketown 4:30pm

Orientation flight 8mins. Very strong smooth wind above 500ft.
The wind was so strong that I couldn't penetrate.
I went fishing with Geoff, I got a bream, Geoff got a barra.
Kevin and John arrive in a PIK motor glider.
Barra for dinner.
Loud drunk local keeps everyone awake.

Bream for breakfast.
Had a few drinks at the pub with army recce chopper pilots who are passing through.
Went fishing. no fish

Army chopper pilots (3 choppers) give us guided tour of chopper before departing for Townsville.
Drive out to last years take off on saltflats.
Fishing. no fish
Dinner at escott lodge.

Heaps of dew. Air smells funny. no glories
I do a short flight along Albert river.
Ken flys 10k's out on salt flats.
Grob 109 motor glider (zak) arrives with Dieter and Bill.
Fishing. no fish.
Air sea rescue BBQ in evening

Dry glories, Ken got thumped by a dry glory on Takeoff.
Tue Sep 24
No glory. I went to go fishing in the morning. I saw a glory on the horizon and raced back to the airstrip. The MG dissipated.
Ken's harness caught a rear wire of his glider when he attempted a takeoff. The harness tilted far enough for the prop to strike the ground. The prop disintegrated. Luckily we brought spare props.

Dry glories came through early am. Bad sign for today.
No dew, another bad sign.
Dieter takes me up for a joy flight in Grob. I flew along Albert river then to Escott trying to locate where I landed on last years MG flight.
Pub manager Tony and Ken also get a joy flight.
Ken and I drive to Gregory Downs for a swim.
Geoff goes fishing in his boat. no fish.
Spanish hang glider pilot Tustra nickname 2stroke arrives with girlfriend Sam.
Everyone has dinner at Burketown pub

I sneak a look at Geoffs humidity meter at about 2:00am on the way to the loo.
It just says HI which I guess is higher than 90%, temperature is 19deg. a good sign
There is a little dew around on exposed surfaces, another good sign
Angus is already at the strip, he arrived late last night.
Ken and Angus catch primary cloud.
I miss the primary cloud by minutes but launch later for a short flight on another small one.

Lots of dew, Humidity HI, temp 20deg at 2:00am
We have fog. It seems we have too much humidity.
4 Hanggliders and 3 motor gliders launch.
All hanggliders outland and relaunch at some point in their flights.
Another MG flight in spectacular conditions.
We go fishing, Kevin hooks a barra with Geoff's handmade lure but the barra got away.
We all go to the rodeo at Escott lodge for dinner.

It appears that this MG cycle has ended. The wind is howling from the south and very little dew is on the ground. I go fishing with Geoff and Kevin. Again no fish.
We pack up, say goodbye to everybody and hit the road.
We stay overnight in Winton.
